With total revenue escalating $1.73 billion US in 2007, ascending to fourth place worldwide, the PV industry in Taiwan has demonstrated a stunning growth. In order to catalyze the cooperation among the industry, government and research, and to keep the local PV industry updated with latest development and trends worldwide, the Taiwan Photovoltaic Industry Association (TPVIA) was founded in August 2007. Situated in the Industrial Technological Research Institute, known as ITRI, which is a premiere technology research institute of Taiwan, the TPVIA collaborates closely with the Photovoltaics Technology Center (PVTC) of ITRI, Taiwan's photovoltaic research pioneer.

The TPVIA is a non-profit organization, and serves not only as a gateway for foreign investments and international organizations, but also as a communication platform among local PV industry, government and researching organizations. TPVIA is striving to ensure the long-term success of our members through networking opportunities, critical information, advocacy, international standards, trade shows, conferences, professional consultation and other activities.
